I couldn’t leave out the work of Belgian artist Jan de Vlieger, even though his work isn’t specifically willow-patterned. See my previous post on him here

Edmund De Waal

English potter Edmund De Waal makes the most exquisite porcelain pots, which he arranges in pleasing and mysterious groups in all sorts of places. De Waal is also an author, having written a moving family memoir, ‘The Hare With The Amber Eyes: A Hidden Inheritance‘, which traces his family’s collection of Japanese netsuke carvings from Paris in the 1850′s to present day, encompassing the history of one family and the cataclysms of the 20th century. Below, De Waal talks about his installation in the Rotunda at the Victoria & Albert Museum
