Wrinkles of The City – Havana, Cuba by JR & José Parla from SOCIAL ANIMALS on Vimeo.

Photographer/graffiti artist J.R. and graffiti painter Jose Parla have been making a series of artworks in different cities around the globe, putting up large, enigmatic photographs of the inhabitants on walls which match their wrinkled visages. Parla explains to a Havana couple that he and J.R. want to photograph, ” We make a comparison between the wrinkles of humanity, the wrinkles of the city, of the people, of our stories”. This film documents their project in Havana (which has no advertising on any city wall, save for those of Che and Castro), and to which they were invited by the 2012 Havana Biennale. See ‘Wrinkles of The City L.A.‘, and an interview with Parla and J.R. here. Below, watch a trailer on J.R.’s Inside Out project, described as, “The INSIDE OUT movie focuses on international communities involved in the INSIDE OUT Project: their story, their sorrow, their hope. Searching for what is common in their motivation, the movie will try to come closer to what is universal: human feelings.” Watch InsideOut NewYork here
