Beaujolais Three
Beaujolais Three
These three pieces, Beaujolais One, Two and Three were created for a competition to design a fresh new wine label for the annual release of Beaujolais Nouveau. I do enjoy a glass of wine and have often felt that producers are really missing a trick when it comes to the label design. So many of us are not oenophiles and choose our wine based on the price and subconsciously the design of the label! A few wine producers over the years have traditionally used very fine art, notably Chateau Mouton Rothschild, and it seems to work for them. I've always wanted to design wine labels, so if you are looking for a fresh new label, here I am!
I used the glorious palette of grape colours, using paint chips and hand-cut papers to construct these vibrantthree dimensional labels. And if you are wondering, I did not make the Georges Duboeuf final as I found out later it's only open to residents of the United States. But regardless I very much enjoyed creating the pieces.
ORIGINAL ART WORK
Is available
You may purchase the original artwork. It will be shipped, carefully packaged, via UPS Express in approximately 3 business days.
These are handmade, living pieces, many with overhanging elements from the collage assembly and the pieces are mounted in a slightly raised fashion (so as to appear floating) above a white, acid-free matte. We use Museum Glass, specially coated to make the viewing of the art completely glare and reflection-free (it looks like there is no glass; all you see is the artwork), as well as being 92% UV filtering (a very important feature, due to the use of fragile, paper ephemera).
PRINTS
Like the original pieces, the prints are designed to include a digital bright white surround “matte” to allow the piece to "float".
Features: Heavyweight, white, premium matte paper which has a natural, smooth uncoated finish that feels luxurious to the touch. The 200 gsm/ 80 lb paper weight makes it durable and long-lasting.
We use FSC-certified paper or equivalent certifications depending on regional availability.
Please note: Paper sizes may vary slightly by region. For the US and Canada, the measurement is in inches, while for the rest of the world, it is in centimeters. Although the originals vary in size, we try to find the closest print size to represent the original work, and the matte increases that size by approximately 1/2" on each side.
FRAMED PRINTS The white frame is made from pine, is 20-25mm /0.79"-0.98" thick and 10-14mm /0.4"-0.6" wide, providing the perfect balance of durability and style. To keep your print looking its best, we use shatterproof, transparent plexiglass to protect it from damage. Importantly, the print is ready to hang as it is delivered within the frame, using the matte paper described above. We include hanging hardware with every order, making it easy to mount.
Each print and frame is shipped in robust packaging, ensuring it arrives in pristine condition. More shipping info can be found in the FAQ section!
