This small but vibrant paper collage was inspired by a 1970s era display box for Andreu chocolate, a beloved drinking confection with Spanish children to this day, found in shops and bakeries around the country. I created a bold 70s vibe with the cut-out papers and vintage colour scheme, enhancing the typography and retro illustration.
ORIGINAL ART WORK
These are handmade, living pieces, many with overhanging elements from the collage assembly and the pieces are mounted in a slightly raised fashion (so as to appear floating) above a white, acid-free matte. We use Museum Glass, specially coated to make the viewing of the art completely glare and reflection-free (it looks like there is no glass; all you see is the artwork), as well as being 92% UV filtering (a very important feature, due to the use of fragile, paper ephemera).
PRINTS
Similarly, the prints are designed to include a digital bright white surround “matte” to allow the piece to "float". They are Giclee printed on thick archival, acid-free 189GSM paper. A digital signature by Shelley is included.
Although the originals vary in size, we try to find the closest print size to represent the original work, and the matte increases that size by approximately 1" on each side.
